Beauty of the Sea

地球表面有71%的面積是海洋,四面環海的臺灣島,自史前時代起至今日,人群生活更是與海洋息息相關。

國立歷史博物館與新北市立十三行博物館共同合作策劃「海之美─海洋文化與臺灣風貌」特展,展出111件(組)考古出土、出水遺物,以及近代繪畫、攝影、陶藝和海洋廢棄物再生創作,展現臺灣自古以來緊密的人海關係、開放多元的海洋文化與海洋豐富多變的面貌。

展覽更特別納入當代海洋環境議題之創作,邀請大家在欣賞精彩考古遺物和藝術作品的同時,也能一起思考,面對日益嚴重的海洋環境危機,身為海島子民的我們可以採取哪些行動,守護海洋的永續發展,讓她保有多樣的美麗風貌。




71% of the earth’s surface is ocean. Surrounded by sea, from prehistoric times to present the lives of the people of the island of Taiwan have been closely connected to the sea.

“Beauty of the sea : Maritime Culture and Faces of Taiwan” special exhibition was cooperated planning by Shihsanhang Museum of Archaeology, New Taipei City, and the National Museum of History. It displays 111 individual artifacts (sets) from land and sea and modern paintings, photographs, ceramic artworks and recycled ocean waste creations, shows Taiwan’s intimate people-sea relationship since ancient times, its open and diverse ocean culture and species abundance and diversity in marine.

This exhibition includes creations with contemporary ocean environmental themes. While appreciating splendid archaeological artifacts and artworks, we invite everyone to think about what actions we can take as island people, in face of the ocean environmental crisis that worsens by the day, to ensure the sustainable development of the ocean and allow her to retain her multifaceted beauty
